"Taekwon-Do: The Art of Self-Defense" by Choi Hong Hi (Daeha Publishing Co. 1965)
Rare, comprehensive text on Taekwon-Do written by its founder, 'General' Choi Hong Hi. With over 1300 photos, diagrams, and illustrations, it is one of the most complete and accurate references on Tae Kwon Do ever written. It is an invaluable reference for those interested in martial arts, as both self-defense and sport, and the official reference of the International Tae Kwon Do Federation (ITF).
The Shotokan-trained Choi was authorized by the South Korean government to sort through and combine the various confusing, duplicative, and sometimes misleading schools of Karate and Korean martial arts into one uniform system. This was the result.
CONDITION : This is a hardbound book (approximately 10.4" x 7.8") with an intact plastic-covered dust jacket, cloth bookmark, and in very good/excellent condition overall, with slight wear and aging of the cover and edges appropriate for its age and scarcity. Forty years later a failed attempt was made to to re-create this book, but it is NOT the same book!
